A Bit About Me
My name is Shannon Kleinschmidt. Born in England and raised in Zimbabwe, I moved to Ireland in 2019 to reconnect with my extended family and pursue my artistic career. I began my studies in Contemporary Art at Atlantic Technological University, Galway, and, upon completion, continued to Limerick School of Art and Design, where I earned a Professional Master of Education in Art, Design, and Digital Media. I am committed to working in education whilst still keeping up with my artistic identity to continually learn and develop my skillset so as to better inform my students. Whilst also having a keen interest in the incorporation of technology within the classroom .

Barista/Waitress - During my college years I have worked mainly through hospitality learning social, etiquette, teamwork and intensive barista skills. Skills that I would gladly incorporate or educate my students on. I was a longterm weekend supervisor in Brazco Coffee Academy Galway for two years before becoming manager in Brazco Coffee Academy Salthill for 6 months before commencing my teaching studies. During this time I was responsible for training in new staff, barista/latte art teaching and conflict managing.
I conducted my first placement in Laurel Hill FCJ Secondary School in Limerick. This placement was totalled at 8 weeks and led to many cover teaching and substitution hours. I was involved in an in depth study of one of my SEN students with severe ADHD which helped to find methodology that the student connected with as reflected in my screencast.
Having continued to substitute teach after my first placement I was welcomed back for my second placement which totalled 10 weeks. During this placement I was involved in the creation and coordination of the school play set and props. I was also a welcomed hand at supervising Art clubs and the Junk Couture. I taught first, second, Ty and team taught fifth years. My research conducted on this placement was focused on developing the conceptual domain in second year students artwork and the results are reflected in my Research Report.
